Biscuit Love
Friends!
Happy Sunday! It's been a hot minute since we last checked in and we hope this post finds you doing well. Spring is here and so are biscuits. We're talking --hot, out-of-the-oven, flaky, moist drop-biscuits.
Anyone remember this -- Betty Crocker Bisquick mix?
Growing up, this was our go-to pancake mix and it was always stocked in the pantry. Pancakes, biscuits, coffee cake -- Biquick had you covered. My brother and I would go crazy for the drop biscuits. The mounds of batter piled high and baked until toasty brown and tender instead.
I love, love, LOVE biscuits. But, mastering the biscuit can be a tricky endeavor. Don't overmix; use super cold butter. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it. Then along came the Heavy Cream Drop Biscuit recipe. These are Bisquick-style biscuits without the add fluff (mystery ingredients on the back of the box).
Simple, easy -- yet always delicious, light and flaky biscuits. Now that's what I'm talking about.
Flash freeze these biscuits for 30 minutes, then repackage and store for a later point |
The ingredients are simple: flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and heavy cream. What's even better, you can flash freeze theses babies and bake at a later point.
I don't even bother rolling the dough out and cutting it properly -- just spoon it up and drop it down.
The results -- a light, tender mound of deliciousness, with or without jelly.
Go for it. You deserve it!
In other news, there's a new dress style in our shop -- the ultimate twirly dress! And, I seriously can't get enough of it; neither can my little mini-me.
There are 4 variations -- yes, FOUR!! And, we're having a tough time deciding which is our favorite. Here they are, in no particular order.

On this beautiful Sunday, I am reminded of the words from Cleo Wade's new book, Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life:
Get Honest With Yourself.
Be the Person You
Are the Clearest With.
Be the Person You Are
The Most Fearless With.
These Are the Seeds

Authenticity.

Recipe for Mom's Heavy Cream Drop Biscuits
Ingredients
2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
1 Tblsp baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 Tblsp sugar
2 c. heavy cream
Directions
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine all ingredients and gently mix until well-incorporated. Spoon out heaping of batter into mounds and bake for approximately 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes: start checking at 15 minutes to make sure they don't burn! My oven bakes quicker than most. My biscuits were done in 16 minutes!
